Generating INDEX file suitable for (media)/packages/INDEX ?

Howdy,
I'm a new Tinderbox user, building customized packages for my
environment. Everything's been going great so far - everything's been
really straight forward and I chewed through most of my required packages in
about 3 days. I've come to the point where I'd like to script an install
with the customized packages, however, and I'm starting to bump up against a
wall. Due to installed packages on my build host, I'm getting contamination
when I try to 'make index' from the ports tree, even with all the
customizations in make.conf and/or exported into the environment. I'm
assuming the best way to solve this is with a hook - either after a
portsTree update, or after each port build - depending on if a full INDEX is
wanted, or just an INDEX containing packages built against the build.
So having said all that, does anyone out there have such a hook already,
or should I go and write one? Or, am I heading down the wrong path here,
and there is an easier/better way of generating this INDEX file?
